“Associate Pastor: Pastoral Care” Position Description
We are searching for an Associate Pastor to join our current staffing team focussing on Pastoral Care at Arana Hills Church of Christ. We are a local church that seeks to see our region transformed by the love of God revealed in Christ. We strive towards creating Safe and Free environments that include all to serve all. This role would be a key addition into our team in order to wholistically care for and “equip the saints for ministry”. Our recruitment process is framed by character, chemistry and competency.

CHEMISTRY
This position requires someone equipped with a “can-do” attitude and a readiness to be a team player. Arana’s leadership consists of Elders, Church Leadership Council (CLC), and Staff; together these teams wholistically serve the congregation through shared giftings.
COMPETENCY
This role’s areas of responsibility can be summarised in two words: Care and Contribution.
Key tasks would include:
Care:
- Co-ordinating and managing the support and care of all people through leading Group Life Ministry
- Shaping a culture of pastoral care in connection with the team
- Provide pastoral visits to those in crisis and emergencies
Contribution:
- Supporting and caring for ministry leaders and volunteers
- Helping new people integrate into the life of the congregation
- Helping facilitate Sunday Services
Regular engagements would include attending:
- Sunday Services
- Team Meetings
- Evening meetings if and when required (ie. leadership meetings, visiting groups)
Preferred skills:
- Communication and presentation skills
- Community development and missional mindset
- Basic technology skills (ie. Microsoft Programs)
- Friendly, enthusiastic, and positive attitude
- Passionate people person
- Experience working in a church environment
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
This is a part-time (3-day per week) role offered on a three-year basis, approval of appointment and extensions rest with the authority of the church membership. (NOTE: The appointment and terms of the role are dictated and managed by the CLC directly)
