Commercial Cook - Geelong

RTC Support Services is looking to hire a Part-Time Cook (25 Hours per week) at Barkley Hall in Waurn Ponds. Barkley Hall is the student residence of the RTC, named in honour of Professor Alexander Barkley, the founding principal of the RTC.


Barkley Hall aims to provide a friendly, secure and harmonious Christian community for students who are studying at the RTC, Deakin University Waurn Ponds or other tertiary institutions in Geelong.  

RTC Support Services provides management and administrative support for the Reformed Theological College and Barkley Hall student accommodation.

Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to the aims and ethos of a Christian education institution.


The important role of Cook will commence as soon as possible and involves preparing and serving well prepared, tasty meals to our student residents at Barkley Hall, Monday to Friday. This is an afternoon-early evening position and might be well suited if you have other activities in the morning.

You will be working in a well-resourced commercial kitchen with lots of support from the RTC Support Services staff. The applicant doesn’t have to be a professional chef, but someone who knows there way around a kitchen and is able to handle working in a commercial kitchen and cooking on scale (maybe you’ve served at church camps, school camps, etc.) The role will also involve interaction with residents during mealtimes.  

Remuneration for this position is Hospitality Award wages of $28–$29 per hour.

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Previous experience in commercial kitchen
  • Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques
  • Food Safety Supervisor’s Certificate
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current police check
  • Must have/willing to be trained in First Aid & CPR
