PREPARE THE WAY is hiring a Mission Mentor in Sydney

Title:  Harvest (Mission) Mentor

Remunerated Position

(1.5-2 days per week)

Prepare the Way is a new and vital organization which draws together teams of mission agencies to jointly employ a mission mentor.  Teams are being raised up in every state of Australia.

The mission agencies that you will be representing are:

World Team:

Africa Inland Mission:

This is an innovative and encouraging new work.  You will be part of a growing team around Australia mentoring those who are interested in mission.  You will be regularly upskilled in how to mentor and encourage those you serve.  There will be a strong emphasis on prayer because God is the Lord of the Harvest.  “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.  Ask the Lord of the Harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.”  Luke 10:2

ROLE:  Harvest Mentors will encourage all those who are interested in cross cultural gospel work.  God may be calling some to go, some to give financially, some to pray and some to encourage others.  Some may be called to go at a later stage but right now be able to give, pray and support.  Some may be called to go to a distant land and others may be called to go to a people group in the next neighbourhood.  Some may be called to a support work in Australia.  The role of the Harvest Mentor is to pray with and for, encourage, mentor, equip and bless each one.  Dependence will always be on God to be doing the work of leading and guiding his people.

  1. To prayerfully look out for, connect with and encourage those (singles, couples, groups) who are interested in mission - either face to face or by zoom, phone, social media, etc.
  2. To regularly run hub (group) mission encouragement meetings - arranging some missional content and facilitating sharing and prayer for all attendees.
  3. To grow your knowledge and appreciation of the three to five mission agencies you represent, as well as continually broadening your knowledge of what God is doing in the world.
  4. To build good relationships with mission agencies, local church leaders and mission committees, bible colleges and university student groups with the aim of continually coming in contact with those who God is prompting into mission.
  5. To invite and accompany enquirers to events run by mission agencies - the mission agencies will provide regular zoom meetings suitable for enquirers. The purpose of these meetings will be to enable enquirers to ‘get to know’ the agencies.  There will also be other opportunities such as annual dinners, conferences, etc.
  6. To develop a support team who will pray for and encourage you.
  7. To pray for and, wherever possible, take up opportunities to encourage the church to fulfil its God-given responsibility to pray for and send out labourers.
  8. To participate in relevant missions community activities.

  1. Cross cultural mission experience
  2. Heart for mission – demonstrated by a heart for the lost and prayer for the nations
  3. Some bible training
  4. Mentoring skills and experience

This role allows for flexible hours but also requires attending events that may be outside the normal 9-5 work day.
