The Christian Religious Instruction Alliance in Queensland is seeking to appoint a CEO. The role is up to 4 days a week across 45 weeks each year. The role provides flexibility that enables potential candidates options to meet their life stage and lifestyle choices.
The Alliance is a membership organisation made up of 15 major denominations and independent churches seeking to support and grow RI across Queensland. The Alliance is looking for a person with a calling that fits with advancing and growing the ministry of Religious Instruction (RI) in State Schools.
Religious Instruction is the church in Queensland’s most extensive cooperative ministry. It reaches out to approximately 150 000 children every week because of approximately 3,000 church volunteer Ri Instructors and paid RI Instructors. RI in Queensland is transitioning towards more contemporary and engaging practices, re-generation, and recruiting the next generation of RI practitioners.
The role is both visionary and strategic. The CEO will champion positive engagement with RI key stakeholders – the Education Department, political parties, the churches, organisations that provide RI across the state, and funders. The CEO will lead the staff team of 2 contractors and 9 regional staff across the state, as well as core operations.
The CEO will preferably have executive experience, will be a committed Christian leader who appreciates the tremendous kingdom opportunity that RI is for state school students in Queensland as they explore, question, and discover Christian faith.
Ministering in both a multi-denominational and education space has both opportunity, scope and regulatory requirements. RI in Qld is well positioned to build on the positive momentum already in place, and the next CEO will relish meeting current challenges with innovative and strategic leadership. The CEO will also be engaged in collaboration with other faiths which are delivering RI.
RI in Queensland has changed significantly over the last decade, including more contemporary and digitally enhanced curriculum, fostering the next generation of RI people, and shaping the future to keep this vital local church ministry.
