Finance Manager

Full Time, 12 Month Contract | West Ryde, NSW


Bible Society Australia (BSA) is dedicated to impacting and influencing Australia and the world by opening the Bible to all people everywhere by all means possible.  Founded in 1817, BSA is part of a fellowship of 152 Bible Societies around the world. The mission of BSA is to translate, publish, distribute and engage people with the Bible, both in Australia and internationally. 

We are currently seeking a dynamic Finance Manager for a full-time role (approximately 12-month contract) to join our West Ryde team. Reporting into the Chief Financial Officer this is a key hands-on position in the finance team providing support for operations around Australia. This vital role is also responsible for leading a team of dedicated finance professionals.


Role Specifics:

  • Preparing high quality monthly management reports
  • Preparing/Reviewing the annual consolidated financial statements, including understanding and applying relevant Accounting standards changes
  • Managing the interim and final audit programs
  • Supervising key functions of the finance team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations; including approving invoices, journals and payments in Netsuite
  • Preparing/Reviewing general ledger reconciliations, including balance sheet, fixed asset, and payroll reconciliations
  • Managing and reviewing the monthly payroll process
  • Preparing and reviewing tax compliance particularly in the areas of BAS, FBT, DGR donations, ACNC, and state fundraising licenses
  • Ensuring you have a good working knowledge of the accounting (Netsuite) and payroll (Sage Micropay) software we are using and continue to invest time in learning and improving your knowledge of these systems so that you are able to help and train others in these
  • Supervision of two direct reports and providing finance support across all areas of BSA


Key Criteria:

The successful applicant will possess the following criteria:

  • CA/CPA qualified, with sufficient experience in a Finance Manager / Financial Controller role
  • Be adaptable by nature, and able to form excellent working relationships with finance and non-finance staff
  • Enjoy the detail with taking pride in accuracy
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills and able to achieve tight deadlines
  • Flexibility - able to prioritise and juggle multiple tasks
  • Team player
  • High level of quality assurance skills and the capacity to quickly identify, analyse and resolve problems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills so that information exchange is effective with internal staff, donors, management and other stakeholders
  • Advanced PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs, in particular Excel
  • Experience with Netsuite and Sage Micropay software desirable
