Position Description
The Board is seeking to appoint two additional Directors with a commitment to the purpose of the Churches for Christ Financial Services and who have financial, insurance, information technology or legal qualifications and experience. This is a very rewarding but voluntary role.
This Director will join a six other Independent Directors, one of whom is the Chair.
About The Organisation
Churches of Christ Financial Services (CCFS) and its associated subsidiaries is an independent not for profit organisation wholly owned by the Churches for Christ Victoria and Tasmania. With an independent board, CCFS exists to support church growth and development through innovative, competitive, and cost effective financial and insurance services tailored to the unique needs of Christian mission. Board meetings are conducted online with some face-to-face meetings. Interstate directors will have travel costs for occasional Melbourne based board meetings reimbursed.
With an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL), CCFS offers the following services to churches and ministries, retail investors and associates.

- Insurance products that offer higher reimbursements at lower costs, tailored to church congregational needs

Selection Criteria
The ideal candidates will have the following attributes.
- Commitment to the Mission, Vision and Objectives of CCFS, including regular attendance at a Christian church to ensure an understanding and appreciation of the commitment and challenges of Christian religious ministry.
- Qualifications such as accounting, business, information services, or legal, with experience in interpreting company accounts and reporting standards and/or highly developed financial expertise
- Experience in oversight of investment portfolios
- Understanding and experience in risk management in a corporate or not-for-profit organisation.
- Good working knowledge of corporate governance principles and practice
- A strategic focus - able to look beyond the current environment to identify new approaches that could deliver value in the future.
- Ability to analyse information, express views and debate robustly while maintaining a professional, empathic and collegiate manner
- Demonstrated success in collaboration and building connections to harness the collective strengths and resources of an organisation
- Networks that can be leveraged to bring people together to maximise opportunities for CCFS
- Ability to commit time in preparing and participating in board and committee meetings and activities. Meetings are 6 times per annum of an evening.
Additional desirable qualifications and experience are:
- Completion of an Australian Institute of Company Directors or comparable course.
- To complement the skills of other directors, experience working in banking, finance, insurance or legal sectors.
- Experience as a director of a charity.
- Other valuable skills and experience could include reputation management, merger and acquisition or information technology.
In return you will have expenses reimbursed and work with a collaborative and collegiate group of executive and non-executive directors with experience in banking, risk management, human resources management, financial services, church governance and financial management.
