The organisation

Baptist Churches Western Australia (BCWA) is an empowering movement helping pastors, ministries, churches and their community say Yes to Jesus. In 1896 four Western Australian Baptist Churches united together to form the Baptist Union of Western Australia Inc. Today, collectively we are made up of over 110 churches, 17 Baptist Colleges/Schools, training through Morling College, two Camping Centres, and Events. We partner with Global Mission and Aid agencies, Financial Services, Insurance Services and aged and community care, who have voluntarily united together in inter-dependence for mutual support and encouragement.


The Role

BCWA is seeking an influential leader to take on the role of Head of Finance & Administration (CFO). This role is responsible for overseeing all financial related activities and financial services to ensure the assets, funds and liabilities of BCWA and its various ministries are fully and properly accounted for and the underlying systems and procedures are appropriate to effectively manage the Business and Administrative affairs.

The Essential Criteria

The following criteria must be addressed within your cover letter which needs to be accompanied with a CV and referees.

  1. A commitment to work within a Christian environment and promote the vision, mission and values of Baptist Churches Western Australia.
  2. Tertiary qualifications in accounting or finance with Membership of the Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) or institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (CA). (Essential)
  3. AICD or equivalent qualification (Preferred)


The Successful Candidate will have:

  1. Significant experience, more than 10 years, working in a senior finance role within a multi-divisional organisation.
  2. Highly developed communication, negotiation and report writing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, internal and external to BCWA.
  3. Exceptional analytical skills, with an ability to interpret complex situations and find innovative solutions.
  4. Demonstrated organisational skills, with accuracy and attention to detail.
  5. Ability to lead and develop a team for high performance and excellent service.
  6. Demonstrate proficiency in a wide range of IT applications and in the use of contemporary finance systems.
  7. Ability to work under pressure and within tight timeframes.
  8. Ensure effective Human Resource Management.
  9. Promote risk management to the churches & ministries of BCWA.
  10. Ensure properties owned by the BCWA are correctly managed
  11. Providing general advice & arrange professional opinions when required
