The role of Seniors Living Chaplaincy Manager: 

Our team has a rewarding new leadership opportunity to support our Community Aged Care Chaplaincy team and Parish Village Chaplains. 

Reporting to the Executive General Manager of Mission and Partnerships, you will have a vital role in ensuring our team of dedicated Parish Village Chaplains and Community Aged Care Chaplains, are guided and equipped, by providing conscientious leadership, pastoral ministry oversight, stakeholder collaboration and staff support. 

The role has a dual focus supporting an important ministry and will be part of the Mission and Partnerships leadership team.


The team: 

Our Community Aged Care Chaplaincy team provide important pastoral ministry to our older clients in their homes, throughout the community. While our Parish Village Chaplains (PVC) are a key part of the ministry located in Anglicare’s Retirement Villages. These roles are supported by well-established partnerships.  Our PVC’s are usually employed directly by the local Parish. 

This role will facilitate and manage the provision of quality evangelical chaplaincy services in accordance with the Christian identity of Anglicare, and within the Anglican tradition.

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated leader with a background in Christ-centered ministry, to facilitate and manage and develop the provision of quality evangelical pastoral care.  

This will be carried out in accordance with the Christian identity of Anglicare as expressed in our vision, mission and values.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide direction, supportive leadership, management and ministry oversight to Anglicare’s Community Aged Care Pastoral Care Team and Parish Village Chaplains.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to ensure the recruitment of competent and qualified Chaplains and Pastoral Carers. 
  • Develop collaborative and supportive working relationships with the At Home Team, our Retirement Villages and the broader Mission and Partnerships team.
  • Provide pastoral and professional development opportunities, training pathways and connection for the Chaplains to equip them to love, serve and ensure the spiritual needs of our Seniors, families and staff.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of strategic developments and Chaplaincy, by working collaboratively with management.
  • Ensure safety standards and risk are well managed in the context of community roles.
  • Maintain strong financial management and accountability by using available resources and monitoring the budget
  • Demonstrate ongoing commitment to his/her spiritual growth in the Christian Faith


Skills, knowledge and experience: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in theology or a relevant discipline or / demonstration of experience in ministry and pastoral care (preferably in Aged Care).
  • Embody Anglicare’s vision of reaching out, enriching lives and sharing the love of Jesus
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in Christian ministry leadership
  • Demonstrable alignment with the doctrines, tenets and beliefs of the Anglican Church, Diocese of Sydney
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Aptitude for good financial management
  • Ongoing membership and participation of a local Christian congregation
  • A current Working with Children’s Check Clearance or willingness to obtain
