Bookkeeper – Professional Practice

As a result of sustained growth, we are hiring a bookkeeper to join our team in a part-time capacity.

Our team of 80 plus staff deliver services in the areas of audit & assurance, business advisory, wealth advisory, personal taxation and superannuation, as well as business, taxation and not-for-profit advisory and consulting.

Purpose of the position

To provide bookkeeping support services to our clients and assist members of the business advisory team as they prepare the client’s year-end tax returns.


  • Performing work for our clients including;
    • Processing accounts payable invoices and creating payments
    • Reconciling bank transactions in the accounting system
    • Processing payroll on weekly, fortnightly, monthly
    • Completing depreciation schedules
    • Other general ledger reconciliations and adjustments
    • Preparing monthly/quarterly management reports
    • Preparing monthly/quarterly IAS and BAS
    • Visiting a client onsite (although most of the work will be completed at our office)
  • Communicating with clients to obtain information/documentation or update job statuses
  • Building client and staff relations
  • Attending training and team meetings
  • Contributing to team development projects


Skills and Capabilities

  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines, projects and priorities
  • Obtain and maintain certification for Xero and QuickBooks Online
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships with a diverse client base.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be energetic, vibrant and positive with a “Can do” attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate an ability to exercise initiative and discretion


Qualifications and prior experience

  • 2 – 4 years prior experience as a bookkeeper
  • Previous experience, or a keen interest, in working with not-for-profits, particularly those within the religious, education, aged care or disability sectors.
  • Experience with relevant software i.e., Xero and QuickBooks
