Why Join Compassion Australia?
We exist to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. As People and Culture Lead, you’ll help our teams thrive so we can grow our impact - especially as we expand operations into Asia.

You’ll partner with leaders to shape culture, build capability, and deliver both strategic and hands-on HR solutions. Reporting to the COO, you’ll lead a small team and bring creativity, sound judgement, and a collaborative spirit to strengthen systems, people, and performance.

About You
You’re an experienced HR leader who enjoys rolling up your sleeves to deliver results. You bring a strong grasp of workforce planning, L&D, employee relations, and HR compliance - and you know how to balance strategy with action.

Ideally, you also understand the nuances of Christian or not-for-profit workplaces.

Why You’ll Love It Here

  • Mission-first: Be part of a cause that changes lives
  • Great Culture: we take our work seriously, but we have fun
  • Flexible work: Genuine hybrid model
  • Make an impact: Shape culture, capability, and people systems
  • Collaborative & innovative: Work with people who care and strive for excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach the P&C team to deliver strategy and build culture and capability
  • Manage ER, compliance, WHS, and workforce planning
  • Drive and embed talent acquisition, development, and employee experience
  • Partner with senior leaders to integrate P&C strategy across the organisation
  • Manage budgets and lead key P&C projects.

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in HR or related field (ministry qualifications a bonus)
  • Strong strategic and problem-solving skills
  • Proven experience managing ER, influencing stakeholders, and driving HR outcomes
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills
  • Deep knowledge of HR best practice, employment law, and organisational development
