About CYC Adventures

CYC is a faith based outdoor education and group accommodation organisation with a head office on the Gold Coast. We facilitate programs in southeast Queensland and northern NSW all year round.

Our staff are our greatest asset, and as committed Christians, they seek to demonstrate the love of Christ to all our guests. Our mission is to deliver excellent programs, delivering key outcomes, through a Christian worldview

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator to join our Operations team. You will design, fabricate, repair, and maintain metal components and structures used across our vessels, vehicles, outdoor gear, and facilities. This role combines hands-on welding with fabrication work, project planning, and collaboration with maintenance, safety, and program teams to ensure durability, safety, and performance in outdoor environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications; determine materials, welding methods, and fabrication processes.
  • Weld, fabricate, and assemble steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or other metals as required for frames, mounts, brackets, repairs, and custom builds.
  • Perform cutting, bending, fitting, drilling, grinding, and finishing to precise tolerances.
  • Inspect finished work for quality, fit, and durability; test assemblies and perform non-destructive testing where applicable.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and asset teams to design and retrofit equipment (boats, trailers, racks, protective enclosures, and outdoor fixtures).
  • Maintain a clean, organized workshop; ensure tools, equipment, and safety gear are in good working order.
  • Adhere to safety standards, OH&S policies, and environmental guidelines; contribute to risk assessments and safe work procedures.
  • Provide input on equipment selection, materials, and cost estimates for projects.
  • Support rapid repair and turnaround for on-site operations and event logistics.

What We're Looking For

  • Trade qualification or equivalent experience in welding and fabrication (certifications in TIG, MIG, MMA welding, or a combination; aluminium experience is a plus).
  • Demonstrated experience in metal fabrication, welding to code, and working with stainless steel, aluminium, and steel.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints; familiarity with machining and metalworking tools.
  • Experience with fabrication for outdoor or rugged environments; knowledge of corrosion prevention and protective coatings is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a practical, hands-on approach.
  • Basic mechanical skills and familiarity with mechanical assemblies, hydraulics/pneumatics a plus.
  • Valid driver's license; forklift or crane operation experience a plus.
  • Willingness to occasionally work flexible hours to support program deployments or maintenance windows.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Comprehensive onboarding and ongoing professional development
  • A dynamic, outdoor-focused work environment with meaningful guest impact
  • Employee benefits in line with company policies
  • Access to gear and program discounts
  • A supportive, safety-first team culture with regional leadership backing
  • Onsite accommodation

Work Environment

  • Outdoor site with variable conditions; some after-hours or weekend work
  • Seasonal demand and a collaborative, guest-centric team
  • Opportunity to influence program delivery and guest experiences

How to Apply

  • Please submit your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience, and why you're excited to join CYC Adventures to andrew@cycadventures.com.au
  • Include any relevant certifications (First Aid/CPR, risk management, activity-specific qualifications) and references.

Application deadline: 30 November 2025
