Bethany Christian Care is currently seeking a volunteer Non-Executive Director with financial expertise to join its Board. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the financial oversight, governance, and long-term sustainability of a respected Christian retirement village and aged care provider.
About Bethany Christian Care
Established in 1949 by members of Brethren Assemblies in Southeast Queensland, Bethany Christian Care is a registered charity and public benevolent institution.
Our Christ-centred mission is to enable older people to experience abundant lives through authentic Christian care, support and community. We seek to serve and honour the Lord Jesus Christ by caring for older people and partnering with local churches.
We provide retirement living, supported living, and residential aged care across two sites:
- The Plains at Eight Mile Plains
- Janoah Gardens at Manly West
This opportunity
As a member of the Board, you will contribute to the strategic governance and oversight of Bethany Christian Care, particularly around financial management. You will also serve on the Finance & Investments Committee, supporting financial planning and risk management.
Time commitment
- Board meetings: six meetings per year (a combination of in-person meetings at Eight Mile Plains, Brisbane and virtual meetings).
- Finance & Investments Committee: four meetings per year (a combination of in-person meetings at Eight Mile Plains, Brisbane and virtual meetings).
- An annual Strategy Day (in-person full Saturday in February).
- Occasional out-of-session meetings as required (usually via virtual meetings).
About you
We're seeking a committed Christian with a heart for ministry and strong financial acumen.
It is essential that you:
- Be a practising Christian who attends a Christian Brethren church or a church affiliated with Christian Community Churches Australia (CCCAust)
- Be willing to affirm and sign the Bethany Christian Care Statement of Faith and Beliefs
- Have significant experience in financial management within a medium to large organisation
- Be willing to undergo a National Criminal History Check.
It is desirable (but not essential) that you:
- Hold a finance-related qualification.
- Have knowledge of aged care and retirement village financial reporting.
- Bring prior experience in not-for-profit governance or board membership.
