St Luke's Grammar School is an Independent, Anglican, co-educational school, with two campuses on Sydney's Northern Beaches. One Campus is located in Dee Why (Pre-K to Year 12), and a second Campus is located in Bayview (Pre-K to Year 6). St Luke's has built a reputation as a premier co-educational independent school that achieves outstanding academic and pastoral outcomes for students.
St Luke's employs over 120 full-time and part-time teachers, supported by teachers' aides, administrative staff, grounds staff, sport staff and peripatetic tutors. The School currently has close to 1550 students, with approximately 1300 students at Dee Why and 250 students at Bayview.

St Luke's Grammar School is one of seventeen schools that are part of the Anglican Schools Corporation (ASC) network of schools. The ASC works closely with the Principal and School Council to ensure wise oversight and governance of the School and provide support with core services including finance, IT, Compliance and Human Resources.
About the Role
St Luke's Grammar School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and professional Dean of Students to pastorally support and nurture students and liaise with the parent community and teachers
The teacher will be suitably qualified and enjoy working in a collaborative team. The successful applicant will be willing to contribute to the co-curricular life of the School (a Saturday commitment is not required) and preferably be a Christian actively involved in their church.

Organisational Relationships
- The Dean of Students reports to the Head of Senior School (7-12)
- The Dean of Students (7-9) will work closely with the Dean of Students (10-12) and other members of the senior leadership team.
Key Roles / Duties / Responsibilities
- The Dean of Students will be the first point of escalation for Year Coordinators and Heads of Faculty for all pastoral and academic matters pertaining to their year groups (7-9) and (10-12).
- Be visible and accessible for students, maintaining high standards of uniform and behaviour.
- Collaborate with Year Coordinators, Head of Wellbeing and School Psychologists to develop an effective Pastoral Care Program.
- Work with colleagues to develop programs which assist with transition between stages of school
- Support the development of engaging learning experiences for students
- Monitor student academic and pastoral progress
- Implement strategies to support students which includes referral to key staff
- Attend events for students and parents of students in relevant year groups
- Work with the Head of Senior School to identify and develop Student Leaders
- Organise camps including acting as the staff member for Outdoor education providers
- Organise and coordinate school events in collaboration with Head of Senior School
- Supporting enrolment interviews process for new students
- Managing Service programs with the Head of Ministry and Service and Year Coordinator
Pastoral Care
- Lead and support the consistent implementation of behaviour, uniform and attendance expectations in line with School policy
- Provide a caring environment which promotes the spiritual, physical, emotional, social and intellectual wellbeing of all students and in which all students can thrive
- Be able to nurture students to become successful learners who can contribute positively to society
- Treat all students with respect and dignity using a restorative practices
- Lead staff in the implementation of the School Policies on Behaviour Management
- Support key Pastoral Care and Learning Enhancement staff in the completion of Support plans and Individual Education plans
- Promote an environment that encourages students to be responsible global citizens
- Develop and implement pastoral care policies, programs and procedures, including those relating to behaviour, uniform and personal presentation, punctuality and attendance.
Professional Relationships and Responsibilities
- Support the ethos and values of the School
- Work within the school's pastoral support team under the guidance of the Head of Senior School
- Direct report of Year Coordinators and intermittent meetings with Assistant Year Coordinators
- Work constructively with others in a supportive culture of trust and open communication
- Fulfil all duty of care responsibilities
- Support the professional reputation of colleagues, respect confidentiality and raise matters of serious concern with the appropriate authority
- Participate in the professional dialogue and decision making processes through the structures that are in place within the School community
- Liaise with key medical support practitioners in relation to student welfare
- Value and develop collaborative relationships with members of the School community
- Fulfil additional duties requested by the School
- Adhere to all reporting and administrative guidelines and deadlines
- Attend School functions as required, especially events involving the Year Groups
- Abide by Staff Code of Conduct

Licences/Certificates/Qualifications
- Valid Working with Children Check required
- Tertiary teaching qualifications as required by NESA
- It is desirable that applicants for this role have attained ISTAA Experienced Teacher accreditation or equivalent.
- It is desirable that applicants for this role have or intend to attain post-graduate qualifications in educational leadership or another relevant area of professional interest.
Physical/Work Environment Requirements
- Strong physical, mental and emotional health to deal with the required demands and responsibilities of the role.
