Hours of work:
A minimum of 4 hours one day per week ( 9am – 1 pm} weekdays
Working with a friendly and supportive team alongside a qualified Court Chaplain in a Court environment
Full training provided
Working with Children's check and Police check will be required but not essential until you commit to volunteering.
General Information:
NSW Court Chaplains Association is a non-for-Profit charity and we provide Chaplains and volunteers to work in Courts across NSW, supporting people in the community going through emotionally challenging judicial court proceedings.
We support victims, accused and their families and also offer a self-improvement program for offenders. This is a one-on-one session with a trained Facilitator allowing participants to explore important issues which may be holding them back and empowering them to change their way of life and reach their true potential. – full training is provided to become an accredited Facilitator.
Currently we provide Chaplains in Courts all over the Sydney metropolitan area including the areas of Wyong, Newcastle, Wollongong, Coffs Harbour, Grafton and Inverell and we need additional volunteers to fill roles in these courts as well as for other courts requesting our services.
The Role

A high level of professionalism is required as we work alongside lawyers, Magistrates and Judges.
This role requires you to work with people of all ages, races and denominations
On any given day you will be supporting offenders, victims and witnesses of crime and their families as they go through the Court system.
This role is casual and flexible for the right candidate.
You must be a good team player as you will be working in a team under the supervision of a qualified Chaplain until fully trained.
You must be willing to undergo training.
About you
- You must have a warm friendly nature with a desire to help others.
- You must be of Christian faith
- If you are a Chaplain you must have a Cert. 4 in Chaplaincy & Pastoral Care or a Diploma of Chaplaincy
- A working with Children's Check and a Police Check will be required
- Good communication skills
- Ability to understand the needs of people and those from culturally diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work in a team environment
- basic computer skills
- A willingness to engage in training, zoom meetings and personal development when required
