We are seeking expressions of interest for a high capacity Finance & Business Manager with non-profit experience. World Relief Australia empowers people through local action for global change, to build local capacity and deliver life-changing sustainable development projects worldwide. If you have a finance, business, accounting or general management background? Then this job might be for you.

About us

World Relief Australia (WRA) envisions a world free from poverty, inequality and injustice. We are an Australian-based Christian aid and development agency committed to the sustainable alleviation of poverty, injustice and inequality through effective development practices worldwide.

With current projects in more than 20 countries we are working to alleviate poverty, bring food security, humanitarian assistance, access to education, healthcare and clean water and sanitation. We’re involved in economic development, rural development, disaster relief, and even the fight against human trafficking.

The Role

We are seeking expressions of interest for a high capacity Finance & Business Manager with previous non-profit experience to join our team. The Finance & Business Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the financial and operational functions of WRA. This role ensures that finance and business operations and systems run smoothly and support the organisation’s mission, in collaboration with the CEO, internal team members, Australian partners, field partners, and service providers. This position works closely with the Finance & Administration Officer.

The Finance & Business Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, fund acquisition, donation processing, international remittances, and financial reporting. The role also oversees business systems, administration, and internal controls, ensuring compliance with governance standards and regulatory requirements.

A particular focus of the role is on supporting Australian-based partners and international projects through accurate financial servicing, timely reporting, and adherence to compliance obligations. The Finance & Business Manager also contributes to organisational planning, continuous improvement, and a strong, values-driven team culture.

The role requires strong financial knowledge, along with expertise in the rules and regulations governing nonprofits. This includes a deep understanding of Deductible Gift Recipients (DGR), Public Benevolent Institutions (PBI), Trusts, Taxation, compliance requirements set by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Familiarity with the rules and regulations related to nonprofit marketing and fundraising is also essential.  As part of a small team with an “all hands on deck” approach, this position requires flexibility and collaboration across multiple areas to ensure the organisation runs effectively.

This role would suit a strong nonprofit financial and operational business generalist who is collaborative, confident, professionally warm, and teachable, with a positive attitude.
