About the Role

Scripture Union NSW (SUNSW) is seeking a passionate and relational Primary Schools Ministry Network Coordinator to help grow and strengthen Christian lunchtime groups in NSW public primary schools.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in children's ministry or primary education who is excited about equipping volunteers, developing engaging ministry resources, and building supportive networks that enable Christian lunchtime groups to flourish.

Working closely with the Schools Ministry team, you will recruit, onboard, train and encourage volunteers, develop high-quality ministry resources, and help advance SUNSW's vision of seeing Christian lunchtime groups established in 10% of NSW public primary schools by 2029.

About You

You are a collaborative leader who enjoys encouraging and equipping others. You have a heart for children's ministry, strong organisational skills, and the ability to build relationships across diverse communities and denominations. You are creative, proactive, and committed to supporting volunteers to serve effectively in local schools.

Key Responsibilities

  • As the Primary Schools Ministry Network Coordinator, you will:
Recruit, onboard and equip new volunteers to establish Christian lunchtime groups in public primary schools.
  • Build and support regional volunteer networks, fostering connection, encouragement and best practice.
  • Develop, source and maintain engaging, age-appropriate ministry resources and curriculum.
  • Build partnerships with churches and like-minded organisations to strengthen ministry opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Schools Ministry team to plan and deliver training events, seminars and leadership development opportunities.
  • Support volunteers through regular communication, prayer, visitation and ongoing encouragement.
  • Contribute to the broader vision and strategic objectives of the SUNSW Schools Ministry team.

Success in this Role

You will contribute to:

  • Growth in the number and effectiveness of Christian lunchtime groups across NSW.
  • Increased recruitment, engagement and retention of volunteers.
  • A comprehensive catalogue of high-quality ministry resources for primary-aged students.
  • Clear systems and processes that support volunteer effectiveness, compliance and child safety.
  • Well-supported regional volunteer leaders through training, mentoring and ongoing care.
  • Successful planning and delivery of training events and student leadership initiatives.

Essential Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Demonstrated experience in primary-aged children's ministry and/or as a primary school teacher.
  • Experience developing educational or ministry resources and curriculum.
  • Experience recruiting, leading or supporting volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong understanding of child safety and Safe Church practices within school and church environments.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills across a variety of churches, communities and regions.

Desirable Skills

It would be advantageous if you also have:

  • Experience using CRM systems.
  • Confidence in public speaking and presenting.
  • Design skills using Canva, Photoshop or similar software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Teams.

Faith and Personal Requirements

As a ministry position within Scripture Union NSW, applicants will be expected to:

  • Demonstrate a personal Christian faith and a lifestyle consistent with Christian discipleship.
  • Actively participate in a local Christian church.
  • Support and uphold Scripture Union NSW's Aims, Beliefs, Working Principles and Code of Conduct.
  • Hold (or be eligible to obtain) a current NSW Working With Children Check.
  • Complete approved Child Protection Training as required.
  • Hold a current unrestricted driver's licence.

Why Join SUNSW?

This is an opportunity to invest in the spiritual lives of children across New South Wales by equipping volunteers, strengthening local ministry, and helping create welcoming spaces where primary-aged students can explore the Christian faith.

If you are passionate about children's ministry, enjoy developing people and resources, and want to make a lasting impact across NSW, we would love to hear from you.
