Volunteer Board Director & Secretary

Magnolia Health

An opportunity to use your gifts to serve women and our community

Magnolia Health is a grassroots Australian charity working to improve the health and wellbeing of women and strengthen our local community.

Founded on the Sunshine Coast in 2023, Magnolia Health began with a particular focus on supporting women living with pelvic pain conditions such as endometriosis and adenomyosis. Through education, community connection, support initiatives, resources and events, we have grown alongside the women and families we serve.

As we enter our next chapter, we are broadening our focus beyond pelvic pain to women’s health more broadly. We want to support women through different seasons and experiences of life, including reproductive health, fertility, pregnancy loss, perimenopause and menopause, hormonal health, wellbeing and other areas affecting women’s health.

Our approach is simple:

For the community, by the community.

We are looking for a Christian with a heart for serving others to join our Board as a voting Board Director and Secretary.

About the Role

This is more than an administration position. As a Board Director, you will be part of the governance and leadership of Magnolia Health, contributing to important decisions about the organisation's direction, stewardship and future.

The Secretary will also help keep Magnolia Health organised and accountable through effective administration, communication and record keeping.

The successful applicant will be a Responsible Person with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and will share responsibility for helping ensure Magnolia Health is appropriately governed and meets its obligations as a registered charity.

This is a voluntary position, with the opportunity to use your skills, experience and personal values to make a meaningful contribution to women's health in the community.

Faith & Leadership

Magnolia Health is not a Christian organisation and we welcome and serve women from all backgrounds, beliefs and circumstances.

However, we are intentionally seeking a committed Christian for this Board position. We value people who approach leadership with integrity, humility, compassion, wisdom and a genuine desire to serve others.

You don't need to work in Christian ministry or have a theological background. We are looking for someone whose Christian faith is an important part of who they are and how they approach leadership and service.

What You'll Contribute

As a Board Director, you will:

  • Participate in Board meetings and organisational decision-making
  • Contribute to the strategic direction and growth of Magnolia Health
  • Help ensure the organisation is well governed and accountable
  • Provide thoughtful oversight and support to the Director and wider team
  • Bring your skills, experience and perspective to the Board
  • Act in the best interests of Magnolia Health and the community we serve

As Secretary, you will also:

  • Prepare meeting agendas with the Director
  • Take and distribute meeting minutes
  • Maintain organised governance records and documents
  • Help ensure important documents are stored securely and accessibly
  • Maintain the member register within Brevo CRM
  • Assist with keeping organisational systems and contact lists organised
  • Manage the secretary email account and direct enquiries appropriately
  • Support the wider team with administration and coordination

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

  • A committed Christian with a heart to serve
  • Organised, reliable and trustworthy
  • A clear and confident communicator
  • Comfortable handling confidential information
  • Able to contribute thoughtfully to governance and decision-making
  • Detail-oriented and good at following things through
  • Comfortable using email, Google Drive and administrative systems
  • Willing to learn systems such as Brevo CRM
  • Interested in women's health and community impact

Experience in not-for-profit governance, administration, business, leadership, health, community services, finance, HR, legal, communications, project management or similar areas would be valuable.

Previous Board experience is welcome but not essential. We're particularly interested in character, good judgement, reliability and a genuine willingness to contribute.

Location & Commitment

This is a voluntary Board position with an estimated commitment of 1–3 hours per week on average, with some variation around Board meetings and organisational priorities.

Board members can be based anywhere in Australia, with meetings able to be attended online.

Someone based on the Sunshine Coast or Brisbane would be ideal, as there may also be opportunities to connect with the team and community in person.

Interested?

If you're a Christian who would love to use your skills, experience and gifts to contribute to a growing grassroots charity, we'd love to hear from you.

Please send:

  • A short covering letter telling us a little about yourself, your Christian faith, and why you're interested in joining the Magnolia Health Board.
  • Your resume or a one-page bio outlining your experience and relevant skills.

Applications: hello@magnoliahealth.com.au

All enquiries and applications will be treated confidentially.

Help us shape the next chapter of Magnolia Health.

We are a small, passionate organisation with a growing vision for women's health. We're looking for someone who wants to contribute not just their skills, but their character, wisdom and willingness to serve.

Magnolia Health
For the community, by the community.
