Senior Bookkeeper & Bookkeeper Team Leader - Professional Services

As a result of sustained growth, we are hiring a Senior Bookkeeper to lead and manage our bookkeeping team, in a full-time capacity.

Our team of eighty plus staff deliver services in the areas of audit & assurance, business advisory, wealth advisory, personal taxation and superannuation, as well as business, taxation and not-for-profit advisory and consulting.

 

Purpose of the position

To lead and manage our team of 3 bookkeepers and provide bookkeeping services to our clients. The role also involves collaborating with our accountants in the business advisory team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the bookkeeping team (currently a team of 3 bookkeepers)
  • Effective delegation, providing support and expertise when required
  • Manage and coordinate the team's workflow to ensure that client deadlines are consistently achieved.

Performing work for our clients including; 

  • Processing accounts payable invoices and creating payments
  • Reconciling bank transactions in the accounting system
  • Processing payroll on a weekly, fortnightly and monthly basis
  • Maintaining depreciation schedules
  • Other general ledger reconciliations and adjustments
  • Preparing monthly/quarterly IAS and BAS
  • Visiting clients onsite (although most of the work will be completed at our office)
  • Communicating with clients to obtain information/documentation or update job statuses
  • Building client and staff relations
  • Attending training and team meetings
  • Contributing to team development projects
  • Staying up to date with changes to accounting software 

 

Skills and Capabilities

  • Team Leader experience is required
  • Technical bookkeeping expertise
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines, projects, and priorities
  • Maintain certification for Xero and QuickBooks Online
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships with a diverse client base
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive and "Can do" attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate an ability to exercise initiative and discretion

 

Qualifications and prior experience 

  • 4 - 6 years prior experience as a bookkeeper
  • Previous experience, or a keen interest, in working with not-for-profits, particularly those within the religious, education, aged care or disability sectors.
  • Experience with relevant software i.e., Xero and QuickBooks Online
