Role Summary:     

To assist in the wide range of communications and promotional needs of MST, Eastern and VET. The scope of this role will include digital communications, copy writing, social media, general advertising, and publications. The primary aim is to grow our diverse student cohorts and deepen our relationships with supporters and the Christian community.

While this role works independently for each college, the Assistant Communications Manager will provide communications support for the planning and implementation of the communication strategies for Melbourne School of Theology and Eastern College Australia.


Significant Responsibilities:

  1. Support and assist the Director of Communications who will be leading and directing the development of promotional activities and collateral across both collages with the aim of growing our student communities, deepening our relationships with supporters and the wider Christian community.
  2. Manage and support the day-to-day operations of the communications team which includes graphic design, photography, copy writing, social media management and general promotional support for various events and activities across the college.
  3. Copy writing for various publications, online materials, brochures, social media posts, landing pages and advertising.
  4. Manage the communications content on the College websites.
  5. Research, develop and implement metrics as part of the management information system.


Selection Criteria:

Background and Experience

  • 3+ years of Graphic Design experience
  • Strong knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite - Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience in Communications and Promotions with Christian ministries or educational institutions.
  • Experience in developing and implementing projects within time constraints.
  • Copy writing experience in various formats e.g. flyers, promotion and social media or publications.
  • Photography experience is a bonus.

Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Creative flair in graphic design and promotions
  • High-Level attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate to, and connect with supporters, alumni, the broad Christian church, schools, ministries, and mission organisations.
  • The ability to solve problems and provide feedback on process improvement.
  • A team player and servant heart
