The Babes Project Australia
Recruitment for Executive and Non-Executive Directors

The Babes Project is a registered charity supporting vulnerable women in the perinatal period (pregnancy until baby’s first birthday). Our mission is to empower vulnerable women with the support, education, and community they need to navigate pregnancy and early parenting confidently. The organisation is administered by the Chief Executive Officer and overseen by a Board of Directors committed to strong governance and strategic leadership.

The Babes Project is entering an exciting new phase with a refreshed strategic plan (2025-2030) built on three key priorities:

  1. Impact – Enhancing our centres and service delivery to reach more women and families in need.
  2. Sustainability – Developing innovative revenue streams, including leveraging our intellectual property through consultancy and courses.
  3. Legacy – Expanding our advocacy and education efforts through research, publications, and industry forums.

To support this vision, we are seeking dedicated Board Directors to guide our organisation through this next stage of growth and impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF DIRECTORS

Board Directors will act as key partners to other Directors and provide strategic leadership to the CEO. This is a voluntary position, with expenses covered for travel and accommodation related to Board duties. The role includes:

  • Undertaking induction procedures
  • Attending bi-monthly Board meetings, AGM and special meetings as required
  • Preparing for meetings by reviewing Board papers in advance
  • Participating in networking and fundraising efforts to support organisational growth
  • Contributing to discussions, decision-making, and strategic planning
  • Ensuring compliance with organisational policies and governance requirements
  • Declaring conflicts of interest as necessary
  • Acting with integrity, professionalism, and respect at all times
  • Attending and engaging in fundraising events to build relationships and support financial sustainability
