Overview/Description of the Role
A leading not-for-profit in the Vocational Education and Training space is seeking a commercially astute and purpose driven CFO/Business Manager to join our Executive Leadership team. This is a rare and invigorating opportunity for an experienced CFO/Business Manager to combine strategic oversight with hands on execution of the College’s objectives particularly in establishing an operationally sustainable organisation and supporting continued rapid growth nationally.
Due to growth and the need to strengthen our business intelligence and expand the College into new opportunities we are excited to create this new role which will report directly to the CEO. The CFO/Business Manager will develop and execute strategies aligned to growth plans and support the generation of revenue through partnership opportunities and networks.
Key Responsibilities
The Chief Finance Officer - Business Manager is responsible for;
- Proactively supporting the generation of revenue through business development
- Managing stakeholder risk, engagement and progress to ensure business objectives, benefits and high-quality standards are achieved
- Managing key projects with team members
- Ensuring all stakeholder expectations are managed and balanced to drive excellence from end to end of delivery
- Organisational finances including overseeing the finance office staff, ensuring appropriate accounting for and control over all income and expenditure of the College
- Financial management and strategic planning including the preparation of reports to the Board and the planning of the annual budget and financial plan of all aspects of the College’s operations
- Human Resources Management including payroll and advising the CEO on industrial matters surrounding employment conditions, awards and workers compensation
- Property management in conjunction with the Office Manager including oversight coordination and reporting of all Capital works planning and construction
- IT management in conjunction with the Office Manager.
Essential Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need to have demonstrated success as a highly effective senior leader, preferably in an educational environment.
You will have demonstrated competency in the following key areas;
- Technical accounting
- Data analytics
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Compliance and risk management
- Corporate governance
- Work Health and Safety
- Strong commercial acumen with broad exposure across finance, operations and people leadership.
Qualifications and Experience
- CA/CPA qualified with 5+ years of experience in senior finance roles
- Proven experience in business development (approximately 5+years)
- Knowledge of vocational education and training is highly regarded.
