Are you a passionate and results-driven Fundraising and Communications Manager ready to make a tangible difference in the heart of Sydney? St John's Community Services is seeking an experienced, all-rounder to lead our fundraising efforts and help us expand our vital work supporting vulnerable community members.

About Us

St John's Community Services is a niche organisation operating crucial programs in the City of Sydney:

  • Rough Edges: A supportive drop-in centre for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
  • Banksia Women: Providing essential support for women who are survivors of Domestic and Family Abuse.
  • Urban Insight: An education program that shifts perspectives by sharing the lived experiences of homelessness.

Your work will directly enable these programs to grow and reach more people in need.

The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team in a key strategic role. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of our fundraising and communications portfolio, working directly with the CEO to drive significant income growth.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Strategy & Growth: Collaborating with the CEO to develop and execute a strategic plan to increase our annual revenue from million to million over the next 3-4 years.
  • Fundraising Management: Overseeing and growing a diverse mix of income streams, including:
    • Individual Giving: Implementing strategies for donor acquisition, retention, and managing the nurturing of Major Donor relationships.
    • Grant Applications: Researching, writing, and submitting high-quality funding applications to trusts and foundations.
    • Community Fundraising & Events: Managing all aspects of our fundraising events and supporting community-led initiatives.
  • Relationship Nurturing: Building and maintaining strong, active relationships with key community partners, including Schools and Churches, with an emphasis on those operating under a Christian ethos, who are a crucial source of our fundraising revenue.
  • Communications: Developing compelling content and messaging for all campaigns and organisational updates across various channels.
  • Database Management: Ensuring accurate and effective use of our donor database for reporting, segmentation, and communication.

Who We're Looking For

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in fundraising for charities or not-for-profit organisations.
  • A proven ability to manage the end-to-end process of fundraising campaigns, from strategic planning and budgeting through to execution and evaluation.
  • A demonstrable experience and knowledge across multiple income streams: Individual Giving, Major Donor engagement, Community Fundraising, Grant Writing, and Events Management.
  • Highly developed relationship-building skills, particularly with community groups like Churches and Schools.
  • Essential knowledge and hands-on experience with donor databases (CRM), with a strong preference for experience using Keela.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A Christian faith that shares in our values and an active membership in a local church
  • An understanding of the Sydney Anglican eco-system

What We Offer

  • Salary: The full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) salary range is $90,000 - $100,000 plus superannuation.
  • Flexible Work: This is a part-time position, available for up to 0.8 FTE (e.g., 4 days per week or equivalent hours). Your salary will be pro-rata based on the agreed-upon fraction of the full-time hours.
  • Impact: The opportunity to be a pivotal driver of growth for a small organisation with a huge heart and a profound community impact.
  • Location: Darlinghurst.
