Non-Executive Director
About Teen Challenge Queensland
Teen Challenge Queensland (TCQ) has been providing rehabilitation services since 1971, with a mission to bring hope and healing through a Christian faith-based approach. As a not-for-profit organisation, TCQ focuses on holistic rehabilitation, helping individuals reconnect with the community and lead healthy, restored lives.
Now, TCQ is on the lookout for a passionate Non-Executive Director who will act as Treasurer to join its mission. If you're driven by the desire to see lives fully restored and have a solid understanding of governance in today’s not-for-profit landscape, this could be the perfect opportunity to make a meaningful impact. We’re seeking an experienced financial leader who combines technical expertise with a genuine commitment to our mission of supporting lives through quality rehabilitation and care.
Role Description
- Serve as Board Treasurer, providing financial oversight and ensuring TCQ’s fiscal health and sustainability.
- Support effective governance across TCQ's two AOD rehabilitation service entities.
- Contribute board-level expertise to fundraising strategy development and monitor its effectiveness.
- Participate in setting strategic direction and policy development alongside fellow Directors, and provide governance oversight as the Executive Director executes the board's strategic vision.
- Leverage your strong governance experience to oversee TCQ’s compliance framework, ensuring policies and procedures meet Federal and State Government requirements for not-for-profit organisations.
We are looking for a passionate and engaged Director to join TCQ in a volunteer role (unpaid). Monthly board meetings are primarily held online, with occasional in-person attendance at key events throughout the year, such as our fundraising Gala, champion graduation event, strategy day, and AGM. We also ask each Director to actively participate in at least one sub-committee to support the Board’s work.

- Proven track record in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, strategic financial planning, and board-level stakeholder management.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in corporate governance, risk management, strategy development, and ability to provide sound strategic financial guidance.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively within a board environment and build strong working relationships with directors and senior management.
- Available to commit the necessary time for effective board participation, including preparation for and attendance at board meetings.

- Membership or qualifications with the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) or the Governance Institute of Australia (GIA) are highly regarded.
