Fundraising & Finance Coordinator (Volunteer)

About Smileback

Smileback is an emerging social enterprise dedicated to mental health support within the CALD community. Through our streetwear sales, we donate 50% of proceeds to mental health initiatives, and through our grassroots Smileback Sports and Wellness Day events, we bring the community together through sport and wellness activities in partnership with major Queensland sporting organizations.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a passionate volunteer to help us secure the funding needed to expand our impact. This role is perfect for someone with financial acumen, innovative mind and fundraising experience who wants to make a real difference in mental health support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue grant opportunities relevant to mental health and community wellness
  • Create compelling funding proposals and sponsorship pitches
  • Build and maintain relationships with potential donors and funding bodies
  • Research and apply for government grants, foundation funding, and corporate giving programs
  • Develop creative fundraising campaigns and initiatives
  • Prepare financial reports for stakeholders and sponsors

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in fundraising, grant writing, or business development
  • Strong budgeting and financial planning skills
  • Excellent written communication for proposals and pitches
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Passionate about mental health and community wellbeing
  • Comfortable working in a startup/grassroots environment
  • Ability to commit 5-10 hours per week (flexible)

What You’ll Gain

  • Opportunity to make meaningful impact in mental health support
  • Experience assisting a social enterprise from the ground up
  • Networking opportunities with Queensland sporting organisations and community partners
  • Portfolio-building work in fundraising and social impact
  • References and LinkedIn recommendations
  • Potential for paid role as the organization grows

Time Commitment

5-10 hours per week, flexible schedule. Immediate start.

Location

The position is based in Brisbane and will be mostly performed remotely over teams. However, someone in Brisbane is preferred but not required as long as they can perform the tasks, especially for the sponsorship and partners role and are able to build relationships with local, state and regional potential partners.

How to Apply

Please send an email with:

  • A brief introduction about yourself and why you’re interested
  • Relevant experience in fundraising/finance
  • Your availability and time commitment
  • Any questions you have about Smile Back or the role

Email: smilebacksme@gmail.com

We’re excited to meet people who share our passion for mental health and community wellbeing within the CALD community and beyond!
