Partnerships & Sponsorship Manager (Volunteer)

About Smileback:

Smileback is an emerging social enterprise dedicated to mental health support within the CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse community). Through our streetwear sales, we donate 50% of proceeds to mental health initiatives, and through our grassroots Smileback Sports and Wellness Day events, we bring the community together through sport and wellness activities.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a natural connector and relationship builder to expand our network of partners and sponsors. We’ve already partnered with Queensland Cricket, Queensland Football, Queensland Touch, AFL Queensland, YMCA, and PCYC - and we’re ready to grow even further.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new partnership opportunities with sporting organisations, community groups, and businesses
  • Develop sponsorship packages and pitch materials
  • Secure financial and in-kind sponsorships for events
  • Maintain and strengthen existing partnerships with Queensland sporting bodies
  • Negotiate partnership agreements and sponsorship terms
  • Create and manage sponsor recognition programs
  • Build long-term strategic partnerships that align with our mental health mission
  • Coordinate with partners for events
  • Develop partnership tracking systems and reporting

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in partnerships, sponsorships, business development, or sales
  • Strong networking abilities and relationship management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Persuasive and comfortable with pitching and negotiations
  • Understanding of the sports, wellness, or social enterprise sectors (preferred)
  • Strategic thinker who can identify mutually beneficial opportunities
  • Self-starter with initiative and follow-through
  • Ability to commit 5-10 hours per week (flexible)

What You’ll Gain

  • Build meaningful relationships across Queensland’s sporting and business communities
  • Direct impact on mental health support in coal communities
  • Experience scaling a social enterprise/ enterprise or Not For Profit
  • Expand your professional network significantly
  • Portfolio work in partnership development and social impact
  • References and LinkedIn recommendations
  • Potential for paid role as the organisation grows

Time Commitment

5-10 hours per week, flexible schedule. Some meetings may be required during business hours. Immediate need for upcoming events.

If you know anyone or have a network that could help with this I would greatly appreciate your help.

Location

The position is based in Brisbane and will be mostly performed remotely over teams. However, someone in Brisbane is preferred but not required as long as they can perform the tasks, especially for the sponsorship and partners role and are able to build relationships with local, state and regional potential partners.

How to Apply

Please send an email with:

  • A brief introduction about yourself and why you’re interested
  • Relevant experience in partnerships/sponsorships
  • Your availability and time commitment
  • Any questions you have about Smile Back or the role

Email: smilebacksme@gmail.com

We’re excited to meet people who share our passion for mental health and community wellbeing within the CALD community and beyond!
