Christian Business Services (CBS), a group company of Christian Finance Australia Limited and exists to Enable Christian Ministry to Thrive by providing business support services to churches and Christian not-for-profit organisations across Australia.  CBS offers comprehensive bookkeeping and payroll services tailored to the needs of these groups.  Our team consists of experienced bookkeepers, accountants, and registered BAS agents who understand the Christian not-for-profit sector and are passionate about supporting these organisations, helping them to be fully resourced and free to pursue their mission.

We are seeking an exceptional national manager based in Sydney or Melbourne to lead our growing bookkeeping service, supporting churches and Christian not for profit organisations across Australia. This manager will bring deep sector knowledge and a shared passion for strengthening Christian organisations through accurate, accessible and mission aligned bookkeeping and payroll support.

About the Role

This role provides strategic, operational, and people leadership to ensure each state team delivers accurate, high quality bookkeeping services that align with our clients’ strategic goals.  You will oversee team supervision and support, quality assurance, process improvement, training and development, while fostering strong communication and collaboration across the service.  As the CBS Manager, you will guide a dedicated team, maintain reliable and mission aligned service delivery, cultivate stakeholder relationships and drive the growth and sustainability of a national bookkeeping service supporting Christian not for profits and churches with accessible, dependable financial assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and empower a national team to deliver accurate, timely bookkeeping services.
  • Oversee operations, workflows, and service quality to ensure best‑practice outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders’ and partners
  • Manage budgets, reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for service improvement, innovation, and expanded impact.
  • Undertake business development to grow the business
  • Champion a supportive, values‑driven culture aligned with our mission.

 

About You:

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong Christian faith and is actively involved in a Christian church.
  • Holds relevant accounting qualifications and has a strong background in accounting, financial reporting and relevant tax regulations for churches and faith organisations.
  • Strong Xero experience and a familiarity with accounts payable, payroll and HR systems (preferably Employment Hero).
  • Has demonstrated people management experience including mentoring, coaching and leading high-performance teams.
  • A confident, approachable and hands on leader.
  • Organised, systems‑oriented, detailed and able to perform with the pressure of deadlines.
  • Fosters a collaborative, mission‑focused environment.
