Digital Experience Developer

Location:     Springwood (Brisbane), QLD
Type:           Full-time

The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and thoughtful Digital Experience Developer to help shape the future of our digital content‑delivery platforms and ministry pathways.

Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, this role is a modern engineering position focused on integration, enablement and continuous improvement—not building everything from scratch. You will contribute to Vision’s transition toward a headless, API‑first content architecture, improved metadata quality, and the delivery of guided digital disciple-making journeys across our platforms.

This is an opportunity for an experienced developer who enjoys working across teams, integrating proven solutions, and applying modern engineering practices in a purpose-driven, mission-centred organisation.

About Vision Christian Media

Vision Christian Media is a trusted nationwide Christian media ministry, reaching people across Australia through more than 800 broadcast locations (FM/AM and DAB+), the Vision app and websites, podcasts, online video, and printed publications. Together, these platforms engage an estimated 1.3 million people each month with Bible-centred content, prayer, news, teaching, and discipleship resources.

We exist to help people look to God daily, serving communities across Australia and beyond.

About the Role

The Digital Experience Developer contributes to the design, implementation, and evolution of our digital content delivery experiences and enabling platforms. Working closely with IT, Digital and Publications Media, Digital and Publication Team, Radio Content and other internal stakeholders, you will help ensure Vision’s content is discoverable, reusable and ready to support emerging experiences—including AI-assisted content pathways.

Rather than owning entire platforms end‑to‑end, this role focuses on integration, extension and contextualisation of existing systems and externally developed solutions, aligning them with Vision’s ministry pathways and technical direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the ministry’s progression toward a headless, API‑first content architecture.
  • Build and maintain integration services that enable content reuse across multiple digital experiences.
  • Work with content and ministry teams to improve metadata quality, tagging and classification.
  • Enable content structures that support search, recommendation and pathway routing.
  • Act as a technical integration lead when adopting solutions developed by like-minded ministries.
  • Evaluate, configure and extend external platforms to fit Vision’s content models and user journeys.
  • Support the implementation of AI-enabled content discovery and routing experiences.
  • Apply modern engineering practices, including code review, testing and documentation.
  • Collaborate with the broader Technology team to support operational stability and reliability.
  • Clearly document integrations and design decisions to ensure sustainable, supportable delivery.

About You

You are a capable and collaborative software engineer who enjoys working in integration-heavy environments and understands the value of reuse over reinvention. You bring technical depth, curiosity and a pragmatic mindset, along with the ability to work effectively with non-technical stakeholders.

You will demonstrate:

  • Strong experience delivering modern digital platforms or integration-based solutions.
  • Experience designing and working with APIs and integration-driven systems.
  • Exposure to headless CMS or content platform concepts.
  • Practical understanding of metadata, taxonomy and content classification.
  • Ability to adapt and extend external or third-party solutions.
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative working style.

Experience with AI-assisted content discovery, broadcast technologies, or mission-driven organisations is advantageous.

As a representative of Vision Christian Media, it is a genuine occupational requirement of all roles that staff align with, hold, and act consistently with Vision’s core values and religious beliefs: https://vision.org.au/core-beliefs

Why Join Vision?

  • Contribute to meaningful digital ministry with national reach and real impact.
  • Work on modern content‑delivery and integration challenges.
  • Collaborate with committed professionals across technology, content and ministry teams.
  • Be part of a purpose-driven organisation where technology serves people and discipleship.
