RISK AND COMPLIANCE MANAGER

 

Waverley Christian College is a forward thinking and culturally diverse Christian co-educational school from Kinder to Year 12. We have been providing students with a quality Christian educational experience for over 45 years. With campuses in Wantirna South and Narre Warren South, Waverley Christian College has an enrolment of over 2400 students with 430 staff across both campuses in 2026.

The College is seeking a full-time Risk & Compliance Manager to lead and embed effective risk, compliance, and safety practices across our College.

In this key role, you will oversee the College’s risk and compliance framework, working both operationally and strategically to ensure regulatory requirements are translated into clear policies and processes. Working closely with senior leaders, you will partner across the College to identify and manage risk, strengthen systems and policies, and embed a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

You will also contribute across areas including occupational health and safety, child safety, emergency management, policy development, and regulatory compliance (including VRQA requirements).

This role is well suited to a thoughtful and proactive professional who can balance strategic oversight with hands-on implementation, and who is motivated to contribute to a Christ-centred learning community.

 

You are an ideal candidate if you:

  • Have a Risk and Compliance qualification and demonstrated experience, with a strong understanding of risk and compliance processes and practices, including familiarity with risk & compliance frameworks and audit processes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of key legislation and risk, including AS/NZS ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management.
  • Have recent experience in a large school environment K-12, highly desirable.
  • Can demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships across a range of stakeholders.
  • Have strong digital and systems capability, with experience managing and optimising learning, compliance and risk management platforms. A willingness and ability to learn new systems is essential.
  • Have excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet/deadlines, while maintaining high attention to detail
  • Are able to show a commitment to the values and ethos of Christian education.
  • Are willing to be involved in all aspects of the College’s programs and opportunities.
