International China Concern (ICC) is a Christian not‑for‑profit development organisation bringing love, hope, and opportunity to some of the most vulnerable children and families in China – children with a disability. As one of a restricted number of foreign NGOs legally registered to work in China, ICC has a unique opportunity to enable children with disabilities to thrive and to contribute to positive shifts within China’s social welfare system.

About ICC Australia

The Australian National Office exists to inspire and equip Australian supporters to participate in the mission of ICC. We do this through engagement, fundraising, advocacy, and governance oversight, enabling sustainable and compliant support for ICC’s work in China.

ICC Australia is accredited with the CMA Standards Council and operates with a strong suite of governance, compliance, and management frameworks. All Board members are covered by Directors’ and Officers’ Liability Insurance.

The Opportunity

ICC Australia is seeking to appoint three Non‑Executive Directors to join our Board. This is a governance role focused on strategy, oversight, and stewardship as the organisation matures and grows in impact. It’s an exciting time at ICC Australia, with the launch of a new five-year strategy across all offices globally.

We are intentionally seeking to broaden the diversity, skills, and lived experience of the Board and welcome applications from individuals who are passionate about ICC’s Christian mission and who bring relevant professional expertise.

Skills and Experience

The composition of the ICC Australia Board is based on a skills matrix. As such, we are particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Legal, risk and compliance
  • Fundraising and donor engagement
  • Digital technology and systems
  • Program and/or disability expertise

Strong communication skills, with the ability to contribute constructively to Board deliberations and build effective relationships across the Board and organisation. Previous board/governance experience is highly regarded.

Diversity and Cultural Insight

ICC Australia strongly encourages applications from individuals with diverse cultural backgrounds. Candidates with fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese, or with established connections within Chinese‑speaking communities, are particularly encouraged to apply.

Commitment

Directors are expected to:

  • Attend and actively participate in Board meetings and key sub‑committees
  • Provide strategic oversight and governance support
  • Uphold ICC’s Christian ethos and values
  • Serve as ambassadors for ICC within their networks

The Board meets 5 times per year, with meetings typically held online with an in-person Strategy Day once per year. Board members are expected to serve on at least one Board sub‑committee, aligned to their skills and availability.

This role is voluntary and unpaid.

How to Apply

If you feel called to contribute your skills, experience, and faith to the work of ICC Australia, we would love to hear from you.

Please email a letter of application (outlining your interest and relevant experience) together with your current CV to:
