CHIEF AUDIENCE OFFICER

Vision Christian Media | Brisbane, Queensland

Reaching people. Shaping culture. Advancing the Gospel.

An exceptional opportunity to shape how the Christian message is communicated and experienced in an increasingly digital world.

Vision Christian Media is entering an exciting new chapter and seeks an outstanding Chief Audience Officer to lead its evolution as an audience-led, digitally connected and innovation-focused media organisation.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and serving on the Executive Leadership Team, the role will lead Vision’s audience strategy, digital transformation and innovation agenda.

This is more than a media appointment. It is an opportunity to unite audience, digital, technology, data, AI, innovation, content and Christian mission to extend Vision’s reach and deepen its impact across Australia and beyond.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Beginning in 1988, Vision Christian Media is Australia's largest Christian media ministry. Today Vision Christian Media is an independent, supporter-funded network of more than 700 AM, FM and DAB+ radio frequencies, plus the Vision app, podcasts, social media, national Christian news, a prayer line, devotionals, publications and Asia Pacific affiliates which together are reaching over a million people monthly. Find out more at www.vision.org.au

The Chief Audience Officer will help shape the future of Christian media: understanding who Vision seeks to reach, how emerging generations engage with content, and how technology, community and AI can deepen that engagement. Most importantly, the role will help Vision reach new generations without compromising the integrity of the Gospel.

This is a ministry opportunity for a strategist, innovator and transformational leader who understands where audiences are heading and can lead Vision confidently into what comes next.

FROM AUDIENCE TO COMMUNITY

Vision’s future will be defined not simply by the platforms it operates, but by the people it reaches and the transformation it helps facilitate in their lives.

The Chief Audience Officer will lead an integrated audience strategy that strengthens Vision's relationship with current audiences while substantially expanding its reach into emerging audiences and generations.  Your responsibility areas will encompass:

  • Strategic leadership
  • Audience intelligence
  • Digital transformation
  • Innovation and emerging technology
  • Content and audience engagement
  • Leadership and culture

A LEADER AT THE HEART OF VISION’S FUTURE

You will lead a multidisciplinary team of 27 people, including four direct reports responsible for Radio Content, Digital and Published Media, Affiliate Support, and Prayer Services. You will also work closely with colleagues across content, technology, marketing, fundraising and ministry.

You will provide strategic counsel to the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Leadership Team, helping shape Vision’s audience, digital and innovation priorities over the next three, five and ten years.

THE EXECUTIVE WE SEEK

This is an appointment into Christian ministry, and it calls for an unusual combination of strategic breadth, innovation and practical leadership.

You will bring significant senior executive experience in media, digital services, technology, audience development, marketing, content or communications. You will also have a demonstrated record of leading organisational change and delivering measurable outcomes.

SELECTION CRITERIA

You will be assessed against the following Selection Criteria:

  • Christian maturity and theological discernment
  • Character, integrity and emotional intelligence
  • Strategic and transformational leadership
  • Content and media expertise
  • Digital and technology capability
  • Audience and stewardship orientation
  • Creativity and innovation
  • People and culture leadership
  • Communication and stakeholder influence

FAITH IS FOUNDATIONAL

Professional excellence is essential. Christian faith is foundational. Vision Christian Media seeks a leader whose Christian faith is authentic, mature and evident in character, leadership and decision-making.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • A personal and active Christian faith
  • Alignment with Vision’s Core Values and Statement of Faith
  • Commitment to the authority of Scripture
  • Spiritual maturity and integrity
  • A genuine heart for communicating the Gospel
  • Respect for Christian diversity within the broader evangelical community
  • The ability to integrate faith, character and executive leadership
  • A genuine desire to see people encounter the hope and transforming message of Jesus Christ

The appointed executive will be required to review and sign Vision Christian Media’s Core Beliefs and Statement of Faith. A personal Faith Journey / Testimony will form part of the application process.

THE DIFFERENCE YOU COULD MAKE

Imagine the next generation encountering the Gospel through Christian media in ways they have never experienced before.

Imagine combining contemporary digital platforms with the depth of Christian ministry using data, technology and artificial intelligence not simply to increase audiences, but to create deeper engagement, meaningful community and opportunities for people to encounter Jesus Christ.

Beyond platforms to people. Beyond technology to transformation. Beyond audiences to community. Beyond media to mission.

Message from our CEO, Phil Edwards.
