For 170 years, Moore Theological College has stood at the heart of theological education in Australia - forming generations of men and women who have faithfully proclaimed Jesus Christ, strengthened His Church and taken the gospel to communities across Australia and around the world.
Now, as the College looks towards its next chapter, the Governing Board invites applications and expressions of interest from gifted Christian leaders to serve as the College’s 14th Principal.
This is far more than an academic appointment. It is an opportunity to provide spiritual, theological and strategic leadership to one of Australia's most distinguished evangelical theological institutions — and to help shape the future of gospel ministry for generations to come.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The next Principal will be a person of deep Christian conviction, spiritual maturity and theological scholarship, with the vision, wisdom and leadership capacity to inspire a flourishing community of students, faculty and staff.
Working closely with the Archbishop of Sydney, the Governing Board, Faculty, churches and the wider evangelical community, the Principal will:
- provide Christ-centred spiritual and theological leadership;
- champion the authority of Scripture and the centrality of the gospel;
- inspire excellence in theological education, scholarship and ministry formation;
- nurture a community characterised by faith, prayer, humility, intellectual rigour and godly character;
- strengthen Moore's contribution to the Anglican Church, the wider Australian Church and the global mission of Christ;
- build upon a remarkable heritage while discerning boldly what the future requires.
THE PERSON
We are seeking a leader who combines theological depth with pastoral wisdom, spiritual authority with humility, and strategic vision with a servant heart.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Deep Christian faith and character
A life that demonstrates faithful devotion to Jesus Christ, prayerful dependence on God, personal integrity, and a clear commitment to advancing the gospel.
Theological excellence
A respected theological scholar with the capacity to engage rigorously with Scripture, scholarship and contemporary issues, and to communicate with clarity and conviction.
Inspirational leadership
The ability to unite and inspire people around a compelling vision while cultivating a culture of excellence, collegiality and mutual encouragement.
Church and ministry credibility
A deep understanding of the life and mission of the Church, together with substantial experience equipping others for faithful Christian ministry.
Strategic vision
The capacity to discern the opportunities and challenges facing theological education and gospel ministry in Australia and internationally - and to lead Moore confidently into the future.
